Greetings from the Principal
Dear Sacred Hearts Families and prospective Families,
Thank you for visiting the Sacred Hearts School Bradford website! We are very pleased that you stopped by! Thank you for choosing/your interest in the Sacred Heart community! We are a caring, close-knit group of teachers, learners, parents, and community members who work together to create a school culture where all students feel safe, accepted, and welcome. We want each and every child to wake up and feel excited to come to school each day. We want them to have a wonderful Nursery- Grade 8 experience.
Many of our parents attended Sacred Heart School themselves and now choose to send their children here. Many of our faculty and staff members are also SHS alumni and are also parents of current or former SH students. Our legacy families are so very important to the fabric of Sacred Hearts School. We also welcome students from 22 different cities and towns in and around the Merrimack Valley, and are blessed to count them as part of our school community as well.
The safety of our students is our number one priority, and parents can rest assured that our buildings are secure. Our classrooms are locked, and our buildings are monitored by digital cameras that allow us to view anyone approaching any of the entrances to the school. Our students also regularly practice safety drills so that are prepared in the unlikely event of an emergency.
At Sacred Hearts School, we know that educating the whole child is of the utmost importance, so we have a multi-faceted approach to education via faith, academics, extracurriculars, and student support.
Sacred Hearts students learn about the Catholic faith by living the faith! They attend Mass weekly, and learn how to serve others via charity fundraisers, and volunteer opportunities woven into the school year. Our Pastor, Fr. John Delaney is a wonderful role model for our students and plays an integral role in all that we do. Our older students mentor our younger students as part of our Buddies Program. Buddies attend Mass together and work on craft & academic projects tied to our faith. Our Christmas Pageant and Lenten traditions are popular across all grade levels.
Our SHS academics are stronger than ever! We are double-graded from Nursery – Grade 8, and our teachers work to foster a love of learning, reading, writing, and mathematics in our students. In addition to our core academic subjects, our students also study integrated arts throughout the school week including: music, computer technology/digital literacy, physical education, library, art, Latin, Spanish, and French!
We offer academic support to students via our Student Support Center. We create and implement Catholic Accommodation Plans and create SMART goals to track student progress. We attend IEP and 504 meetings and work with families and the larger education community to ensure all students achieveacademic growth over time. We also have academic support specialists dedicated to every grade level. That means we have an academic specialist to work with every single student who needs extra support – regardless of their age or grade.
Our students take the Measures of Adequate Progress (MAP) Tests in Grades 1- 8 three times each year. The MAP Tests are administered online in the fall, winter, and spring. They allowteachers, parents, and the SH administration to track student growth and identify areas in need of attention. The tests are administered in reading, language arts (grammar and punctuation), mathematics, and science. Our teachers have access to test results within 48 hours, so that they canimmediately adjust their instruction to specifically meet the academic needs of their students.
At Sacred Hearts School Bradford, we offer a plethora of extracurricular activities for students to explore! We offer Lego Club, Coding Club, Comic Book Club, Chess Club, Media Club, Drama Club, Model U.N., Yearbook Club, Select Chorus, Music/Band, Volleyball, Basketball, and sports camps! For the convenience of our busy parents, we offer Before School Early Drop-Off, and After School Care five days a week!
We are blessed at Sacred Hearts School Bradford to have a strong Parent-Teacher Organization. Our PTO spearheads fundraising efforts that directly benefit our students and school throughout the school year. We welcome all parents to our PTO monthly meetings and encourage everyone to get involved and have fun with us!
