For your classes you will need the following:
- A binder with separators for each subject or a ringed notebook for each subject

- Soft pencil case with holes so that it is carried in your binder or easily carried around with you. Please, no clunky plastic containers.
- A USB flash drive and 2-pocket folder to use for computer class
- A box of tissues to share with classmates during the year
- A roll of paper towels or disinfectant wipes for the classroom
Anyone who brings in a package of dark colored dry erase markers will start the year off with a homework coupon.
Remember, it is important to be ORGANIZED.
I expect that every student will have a book to read in his /her desk for enjoyment during the school year.
The summer is a wonderful time to catch up on reading. It is a proven fact that students who read for pleasure have more success in school than those who do not. You will read three books this summer, minimum.
- Bread and Roses, Too by Katherine Paterson (Story about immigration in Lawrence Massachusetts, and the organization of unions in the woolen mills.)
- A Mango Shaped Space by Wendy Mass (Story about how an adolescent girl copes with a strange neurological disorder.)
- Monster by Walter Dean Myers (Story about how a sixteen year old boy is jailed and put on trial. Is he guilty or not guilty? You decide.)
Each of these novels portrays adolescents who are faced with great difficulties and how they cope with them.
In addition I expect that you will read one additional book of your choice, preferably non-fiction.
You will be given an assignment on the readings the first week of school in September. Remember the readings are MANDATORY!
Enjoy your vacation! Come back to us rested and ready to start your last year at Sacred Hearts. I’m looking forward to seeing you the first day of school.
